As a programmer and trading strategy consultancy provider for traders for nearly 30 years I’ve seen just about every trading strategy out there. Indeed I’ve coded up most of them myself! Back-testing and optimisation is a real minefield for the unwary. There are lots of pitfalls and issues to do with optimisation which can so easily lead to overfitting. Traders who naively select the strategy with the best historic track record are going to find themselves wondering why their trading performs so poorly when trading live. There is a real art to proper optimisation which I can help you with.

Part of the art of good trading can be the selection of the markets to trade with in the first place. As a hedge fund manager part of our edge was the selection of markets to include in our portfolio. Also, for retail traders, the selection of a good broker can make all the difference between success and failure. The differences between different brokers can be huge!
